The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met yesterday CEO of Leonardo Italy, Lorenzo Mariani, on the sidelines of their participation in the Munich Security Conference in Munich.

Leonardo is an Italian company with expertise in security, defense, and aerospace. Based on 2020 sales, the business ranks as the 12th largest defense contractor globally. It is also one of the major shareholders of German Hensoldt, a prime producer of radars and sensors.

The discussion covered the recent agreement made by the committee that was established during the Italian Prime Minister’s visit to Baghdad in December 2022, as well as an accord to handle the company’s unresolved concerns with Iraq. The committee aims to concentrate on resolving issues that prevent Italian businesses from operating in Iraq, supporting development initiatives, and taking part in infrastructure rehabilitation, as well as terminating the legal duties of Italy’s loans to Iraq.
